Our dear friend Leon, abandoned being a well-paying banker to become a coffee-roaster. A pretty unique concept I must say. Papa Palheta only sells beans but you could always hop over their tranquil courtyard for a tasting session-- freshly roasted, freshly brewed. ( I heard there's an hour-long crash course on 'coffee appreciation' every first Saturday of the month. Nice.)
It is not a cafe, but rather, a coffee retail boutique. There is no price tag on the coffee you order thus you pay for what you think they are worth. I bet those who took the trouble to head there are serious coffee drinkers who tip generously for good stuff.
If you are into anything old skool, it gives you another 237 reasons to visit them. Leon & mum are fanatics for vintage. You will get to see some rare-finds like the old skool radio, old skool iron and old skool stool.
Seriously that's the best part. Imagine resting on that 80's armchair, listening to 70's music, sipping your aromatic cuppa on a lazy afternoon. Even if it was just a couple of hours off that hectic schedule of yours, it's worth it.
Lastly, don't forget to actually buy some beans home.
